I took the kids to the movies yesterday for Winter Break. We saw the Secret World of Arietty. It was really good and we all liked it. We loved Howl's Moving Castle and Ponyo so we knew we would enjoy it. I usually try to be thrifty and mke sure we go to the cheap show early in the day. Each ticket was only $5 and I thought that was pretty reasonable for a day with the kids but of course there was the problem of popcorn. Usually we share a popcorn and pass it back and forth but it gets to be a pain. I decided we should just split it up and everyone would have their own from beginning to end. But how? I decided that the best way was the simple paper lunch bag.
I took enough bags for everyone minus 1 and when we got the popcorn we divided it and everyone got to season and butter thier own to their liking. Simple easy and cheap. Plus with free refills we couldnt go wrong! Sometimes I do have good ideas!

Busy being sick
I've been pretty busy....being sick. Not exactly how I like to spend my time but I survived. I had a throat infection and have been so run down there has not been a lot of my usual fun stuff going on. Resting was in order and that is what I got! Now that I'm better I am making up for lost time by baking. Today I made a pound cake and am currently baking beer bread. The pound cake I found the link of pinterest. It's a really easy recipe and although it's still cooling I sampled a small taste and it's so good.
This is where I found the recipe http://m.myrecipes.com/details/searchR.rbml?id=10000001981667.xml&bcat=search&cat=Search%20Result&fl=recipe/two-step-pound-cake-10000001981667
The beer bread I have made before and it's a simple cheap recipe that I found here http://honestfare.com/beer-bread-2/
Looking forward to dinner and dessert with the family tonight. Perfect chilly day food soup, bread and cake. It's a happy night with no more sickness in The house!

My man!
My man, husband, best friend, and honey is probably the best person I know. He can fix anything, cooks more times in the week than I do, and is the ultimate problem solver. He is a hard worker and provider. He leads our family in many ways. He also is the King of skipping work for me. Seriously the surprise I had today was amazing when I woke up to find him still in bed instead of getting ready to head out the door. In honor and celebration of my birthday tomorrow he took a 5 day weekend! WHAT!? So happy and excited. There is nothing like a nice quiet breakfast out after we dropped the kids off at school and then walking around forever redesigning out bathroom and takin pictures in Lowes of everything we like and need. Then just relaxing and talking. He even loves watching my favorite TV show with me...The Chew.
It has been a great day and I am looking forward to the rest of this long weekend with him and the kids. So blessed by this man in my life.

Why do I do the things I do
Sometimes I wonder why I do some of the things I do. Is it for or for others? I usually try to do things for others. It's just the way I am. I try to help when I can or give someone a boost if needed. Baking is one way I can do that. Cookies and cakes can just cheer you up like nothing else can!
But lately I find I am doing more things for myself. Crafting....making things I want for the house or for myself. I made a wreath this winter I've been doing small projects just for me. But I always though of baking as something I did for others until I took this picture of Wes baking with me. Then I realized as much he gets out of the yummy dessert and time with me I am getting so much more! The memories of baking with this perfect little man I will keep in my heart for the rest of my life! Such a blessing!!

Addicted to pinning
Every so often I become addicted to something...usually a new hobby or snack item. Never the good for me things like water and exercise. Currently I addicted to Pinterest. Seriously it is getting out of hand. I am on it all the time. I think my husband is sick of it at times but thankful I am just looking at ideas instead of trying to do them. I take that back I think he likes the baking and cooking ideas I get from there. Right now I am actually making something I found on there....Chocolate Chip Banana bread. If it turns out I will post pics of it and a link but if it doesnt we will just ignore it and pretend it never happened.
Back to pinterest though. I have found so many things there. Decorating ideas, recipes, crafts with the kids, beauty and cool nail tips. I am loving this and am so happy not to have to scroll through all my bookmarks that I never got around to organzing into folders. Plus its fun and lets be nosey into other peoples lives. My son is particularly loving it because he found the perfect Indiana Jones bedroom theme that he is begging daily for us to do.
So I guess in short addicts can be good and bad....I'm still secretly hoping an addiction to sit ups might happen for me. It would make the baking and eating I am doing even itself out.

Start at the very beginning....
a very good place to start! Everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end so this blog deserves one too. I have been thinking for over a year that I needed to do this. I have been using my facebook to show off my baking and crafting photos and as fun as that is sometimes I need to say more about the things I do and love. Therefore the need and birth of this blog.
A little about me. I am a Christian with my eyes wide open to the world(easily put...love all people!) I am a busy Mom to three of the most amazing kids in the world. I am a wife to the best man in the world and I love my life as a stay at home Mom. I enjoy the little things and feel like I am pretty good at my job as I try to have fun with everything I do.
Looking forward to this blog and sharing my life and passion for being a mom and homemaker....the job I know I was created to do!
